Andrea Scholten is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and a member in good standing with the Canadian College of Naturopathic Doctors as well as the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors. In her practice, Andrea endeavours to create a safe space for patients to explore all aspects of their health; mental, emotional and physical. Using a variety of techniques from a mind body medicine approach to functional medicine testing, Andrea skillfully melds together the art and science of medicine to develop a wholistic understanding of each individual’s illness or dis-ease.
Andrea uses the whole range of natural modalities in her practice including diet and nutrition, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy, body work, counseling and bioenergetics. Through understanding each person’s unique experience, Dr. Andrea treats the person rather than the disease, empowering her patients to tap into their body’s innate ability to heal itself.
Andrea graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2008, receiving the Governor General's award of Excellence. She also holds an honors degree in Biochemistry from the University of Saskatchewan. Andrea has a particular interest in homeopathy and graduated from the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine with a Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in 2011. In addition to keeping up with her existing naturopathic modalities, she is also currently pursuing further studies in cranio sacral therapy, structural medicine, breath-work and bioenergetics.
In addition to her Naturopathic family practice, Dr. Andrea is a mother of two spirited children who love to keep her busy! She enjoys spending time in nature, biking, swimming, running, gardening and her favorite past time was singing and playing in a Brazilian drumming group with her now husband. Her passion for travel has taken her across the globe and she has lived and worked in The Netherlands, Taiwan and Brazil. Andrea provides Naturopathic consults in both Portuguese and English.
